Chinese Christian Council (CCC)
The Chinese Christian Council is a religious council, not a government agency (part of the United Front Work Department) that is expected to ensure all parts of society comply with the Chinese Communist Party policies. The CCC, under the UFWD, is specifically tasked with enforcing compliance of Protestant Christian groups. It operates Amity Press, for example, that prints Bibles and sometimes other Protestant literature.
The Catholic equivalent is the CPA, Catholic Patriotic Association. There is much tension over loyalty to the Pope, a foreign political leader.
The TSPM is parallel to the CCC, but is a specific classification of actual Protestant churches which it registers and thereby renders them legal.
