A Tested Faith

Below we share two testimonies of those in China whose faith was tested and how they proved faithful.

In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
I Peter 1:6-7

You are looking for death

I have been a company commander for three years, working in military radar in a secret region. A few months ago, the high officers came to know that I am a Christian. I didn’t know how they figured it out. They demanded me to forsake my faith in Jesus.

I am in charge of about 120 soldiers. I did have some struggle in my heart. It is a kind of embarrassment to me when my high officer scolded me in terms of my faith in front of my soldiers. After some days of struggle, I told my officer that I would not give up my belief in God. The officer blew up, saying, “You are looking for death. I will send you to military court to conduct trial on you if you don’t give up.” I told him firmly that my answer was the same.

To my surprise, he did not send me to the military court but told me that his mother was also a Christian. After some days, I was promoted to battalion commander. My faith has been strengthened, and now I am full of joy because God has won the victory.

You can’t change my faith in Jesus

A primary school teacher (26 years old) has been an excellent teacher in the school. Both her colleagues and students like her.  Weeks ago, the school authority came to know that she was a Christian and asked her to fill in a form to deny her faith in Jesus. They threatened that if she did not abandon her faith, she would be fired.

She rejected the demand from the school authorities, telling them she would stand firm in her belief in God even if they fire her.  So far, she has not heard a reply from the school yet. Please pray for her.
